This report summarizes the survey data, survey response patterns, and recommendations in relation to the the findings of the first climate stocktake survey conducted by WCRP Academy to understand the existing climate science training. The report begins with an overview of the survey uptake, followed by an analysis of the global demand for and supply of global climate science training. This includes identifying existing climate science training opportunities across the globe, highlighting gaps, assessing the need for new climate science training opportunities, and outlining potential contributions the WCRP Academy can make. Subsequent sections examine regional and demographic differences—such as those based on gender, education level, and distinctions between WMO Governance Regions in the Global North and Global South. The final sections reflect on survey participation and response quality, and offer recommendations for the WCRP Academy. These include improving future surveys by focusing on climate science training and education, clearly defining target audiences, offering translations, investigating outlier responses by country, exercising caution in interpreting findings, and refining survey design for better clarity and analytical value. The report also recommends the development of a WCRP Academy website to curate and list high-quality formal climate science programs and promote upcoming WCRP-affiliated training activities.
