This outline is an outcome of a workshop held in Hamburg in February 2020 and subsequent discussions of an extended task team. It describes the WCRP Academy and its main role to develop and deliver a climate science training and knowledge dissemination exchange program that faces both inward and outward. It also enumerates the list of deliverables and target achievements of the Academy. Moreover, it underscores the importance of partnerships with training and science communication providers across the world in the success of the WCRP Academy. Finally, it highlights the need for dedicated resources and personnel to effectively implement the Academy’s activities.
