 What is the WCRP Academy?

The Academy is the research training advisory and coordination arm of the World Climate Research Program (WCRP). Its mission is to equip current and future climate scientists with the knowledge, skills and attributes required to tackle the world’s most pressing and challenging climate research questions. This will be done by serving as a knowledge hub that connects climate training providers and users.

Who can access the training opportunities advertised by the WCRP Academy?

Anybody with an interest in climate science, capacity development, climate literacy, transferable skills, etc.

How are the training activities advertised by the Academy quality controlled?

All WCRP in-house activities and those of the WCRP sponsors (e.g., WMO and UNESCO) are quality controlled. Other external activities will be reviewed and vetted by experts within and outside WCRP.

Are the contents of WCRP Academy free?

The provision of WCRP in-house training activities and its sponsors (WMO & UNESCO) is free of charge. External activities included in the catalogue, on the other hand, will be either free of charge or subject to costs, in which case, the amount and payment method will be clearly stated in the description of the activity. RPs can require payment of some sort.
