The WCRP Academy organized the Future Leaders Development Workshop in a hybrid format from September 12-13, 2025, in Cape Town, South Africa. The event aimed to discuss global best practices for capacity development and address the barriers faced by stakeholders, particularly those in the Global South. The primary goal of the workshop was to design a concrete roadmap for the Academy’s new Future Leaders Programme to empower young climate scientists. The gathering brought together capacity-building experts, climate scientists from various career stages, and WCRP representatives from around the world to collaborate on these initiatives.
