Horn of Africa drylands summer school

This Summer School draws on emerging evidence of the need to rethink policy, development and humanitarian interventions in the drylands by focusing on local constructs of resilience. The school brings together Master’s and PhD students from relevant fields for a participatory field exercise, group co-learning engagements, and lectures by drylands researchers and practitioners. By participating in the Summer School, the participants will: i. Familiarize with key debates on pastoral livestock in relation to the diverse social, ecological and political changes ii. iii. Get exposure through peer to peer learning and ideas towards co-creating alternative methodological and analytical approaches in conducting research, resilience and humanitarian programs in drylands Explore the possibilities of establishing a network of emerging and future scholars to champion the privileging of pastoralists’ knowledge, assets and networks in research, policy and practice.
