Christopher Lennard

Dr Chris Lennard is a climate scientist at the Climate System Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. His interests include regional climate modelling, renewable energy, understanding extreme climate events, the co-development of regional climate information and capacitating African climate scientists for climate research.
He was a Lead Author in the Africa chapter of the IPCC 5th and 6th Assessment Reports and the IPCC Special Report on Land and Climate. He facilitates the CORDEX-Africa initiative that capacitates African climate scientists and builds our understanding of how climate change may impact the African context.
Chris serves as co-chair of the World Climate Research Programme Academy, and also on the scientific steering group of several WCRP programmes including the Global Precipitation Experiment and Climate Intervention Lighthouses and ScenarioMIP.
He is dad to two young boys, aged 8 and 10, who inspire his research.
